;===========================================================================
; System Global Settings
;
#topic(System Global Settings)
#title(Global settings)
This topic covers the settings that can be made in WtrConf under
the System Configuration menu, Global Settings.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal Sysop name
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal Sysop name)
#title(Sysop name)
Enter the name of the system operator, usually your own name. This field
is used in the #HL(Sysop) and #HL(SysopFirst) tokens.
Consult the manual for more information on token usage.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal System Path
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal System path)
#title(System path)
This path is used by WaterGate to search for its internal databases.

If the WTRGATE environment variable is present, then WTRCFG.TDB is
loaded from #that# path. This field then points to the directory where
all the other .TDB files are stored.

;-------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal Logfile path
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal Logfile path)
#title(Logfile path)
Enter the path plus filename for the WaterGate logfile here.
The statistics file is stored under the same name, but with
.STA as extension.

Example:

  #HL(C:\MAIL\LOGS\WTRGATE.LOG)

The statistics file would then be stored as:

  #HL(C:\MAIL\LOGS\WTRGATE.STA)

;--------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal Oversized path
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal Oversized path)
#title(Oversized path)
This directory is used to store messages that are too large
to process properly. When WaterGate runs out of available
internal memory and swap space, it writes the message to this
directory.

This is normally never used, unless you disable the swap file
or set it low. 10Megs should be more than enough for most
setups.

Notice that WaterGate needs all this memory because it stores
a copy of the entire message internally, before it distributes
it to the recipient(s).

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal Dupe checking
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal Dupe checking)
#title(Dupe checking)
This toggle controls whether WaterGate checks the messages
passing your system for duplicates.

Further specification can be done per Area Definitions.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal Minimum disk free
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal Minimum disk free)
#title(Minimum disk free)
The amount set here must be free at least when checking
the disk drives selected for enough free disk space.
If there is less free space, this is logged and the
requested operation is aborted.

Free disk space is checked when it is critical to have
enough space at that point.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal Drives to check
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal Drives to check)
#title(Drives to check)
Enter the letters of the disk drives you want to check
for enough free disk space, as set in the option above.

For example, "CD" checks drives C: and D:

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal Empty tearline
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobal Empty tearline)
#title(Empty tearline)
This option is for registered users only.

When set to No, WaterGate will create a tear-line with the following
format. If set to Yes, it will just put the tree dashes and a space
there.

#HL(--- WtrGate+ 0.93)

This tear-line is added to all gated messages and exported messages
(from message bases) that require a tear-line, or when the Replace
Tear-line option is enabled.
#end

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobal List of colors
;
#topic(CFGGlobal List of colors)
#title(List of colors)
This list contains the names of all the elements for which
WaterGate has a color definition. Press Enter to change one.

Notice that the change are effective at once, but the screen
is not repainted. The parts under overlapping windows are
remembered and not rewritten when the window is removed.

You can press F2 to get a long list of all the color codes
currently set. There, you can also enter a new list of all
the color codes, so you don't have to change each code
separately to change to your friends color set.

; System Global Advanced
;
; Super-topic for the system settings, global settings, advance settings
; editor.
;
#topic(System Global Advanced)
#title(Advanced Global Settings)
This topic covers the settings that can be made in WtrConf under
the System Configuration menu, Global Settings, Advanced settings.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobAdv Max. open handles
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobAdv Max open handles)
#title(Maximum open files)
WaterGate tries to keep the file handle to an outgoing mail bundle
open for as long as possible, saving the time needed to open and
close a file. When WaterGate runs out of handles, it temporarily
closes the bundle that received the smallest amount of mail.

Make sure you allocate a matching FILES= in your #HL(CONFIG.SYS)
Since WaterGate needs some additional internal file handles you
should use the following formula to calculate the correct number:

   FILES = 20 + (10 + Max. Open Handles)

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobAdv Cache TDB files
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobAdv Cache TDB files)
#title(Cache TDB files)
If you have some #HL(XMS) memory free, you might want to toggle this option
to YES.

WaterGate then tries to load its Area, User and Subscription
databases into XMS. If not enough memory is available only some or
none of the databases use the XMS memory.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobAdv Time Slicing
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobAdv Time Slicing)
#title(Time Slicing)
When set to YES, WtrGate, WtrGateO, WtrGateD and WtrUtil will
give up time slices while scanning, tossing, packing, linking,
purging, etc.

WaterGate supports giving up of time slices for the following
environments: DesqView, Windows and OS/2.

;===========================================================================
; System Global Swapfile
;
#topic(System Global Swapfile)
#title(Swapfile settings)
This topic covers the settings that can be made in WtrConf under
the System Configuration menu, Global Settings, Swap file settings.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobSwap Swapfile enable
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobSwap Swapfile enable)
#title(Use swapfile?)
Use this toggle to enable (YES) or disable (NO) the Swapfile usage.

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobSwap Swapfile path
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobSwap Swapfile path)
#title(Swapfile path)
Enter the complete path plus filename to use as
a swapfile. If you have a ramdrive, it might be
a good idea to put it there. For example:

  D:\WTRGATE.SWP

;---------------------------------------------------------------------------
; CFGGlobSwap Swapfile size
;
#subtopic(CFGGlobSwap Swapfile size)
#title(Swapfile size)
Enter the maximum size of the swapfile in megabytes.
The default value is 5 megabytes.
The swapfile will not grow beyond this size.
