AST Research Shows 486 and 386 Systems at Comdex

AST Research is showing 486 and 386 systems at Comdex this week.
The AST Premium 486/25 comes with 2 megabytes of zero-wait state
memory, expandable to 4 megabytes on the processor board, and a
5.25-inch floppy drive. It supports the Weitek 4167 and offers
seven expansion slots, five storage bays, controller support for
three floppy drives, and one parallel and two serial ports.
 
The Premium 386SX/16 is also on display in the AST booth. This
system incorporates Cupid-32 architecture (Completely Universal
Processor, I/O design), making the 386SX upgradable to a 25- or
33-MHz 386 or a 25-MHz 486. The Model 5 comes with 1 megabyte
of memory expandable to 4 megabytes on the CPU board with a
maximum of 16 megabytes. Five expansion slots are available,
and it comes with a 16-bit VGA graphics adapter, a 5.25-inch
floppy drive, and one parallel and two serial ports.
 
The Bravo/386SX is a similar 16-MHz 386SX system, but it does
not incorporate the Cupid-32 architecture.
