The Laserdrive Model 810 optical disk subsystem is fully
DOS-compatible and provides transparent operation for existing
applications software. The Model 810 is a plug-and-play WORM
(write once, read many times) drive that you can use with the IBM
PC and compatibles. It uses 5.25-inch removable 810-megabyte
optical disk cartridges, which are exchangeable among other
Laserdrive optical disk drives.

The Model 810 features full hard-disk drive emulation embedded
in its control unit. Ideal for archive storage of desktop
publishing files, scanned images, programs, and large database
files, the drive incorporates data-security and error-recovery
systems to ensure the integrity of your stored data. It assures
media life for a minimum of 10 years.

Internal self-diagnostics and self-calibration hardware
compensate for factors such as temperature, component drift,
laser-diode degradation, beam focus, and tracking error.

Two versions of the Laserdrive Model 810 are available: a
single-drive unit providing 810 megabytes of storage, and a
twin-drive unit providing 1620 megabytes of storage. An internal
chassis version, with a controller, is also available. Other
versions give direct compatibility with Macintosh II, IBM PS/2,
and DEC Micro-VAX II computers.

Price: L4215 for the 810-megabyte version; L6708 for the
1620-megabyte version.
