Digitalk has announced the availability of Smalltalk/VM PM, what
the company claims is the "first object-oriented programming
environment" for OS/2. It's also the first fully compiled
version of Smalltalk, a feature that the company says gives
developers a responsive environment.

Smalltalk/V PM gives you complete access to Presentation Manager
features such as Dynamic Data Interchange (DDI), and Dynamic
Link Libraries (DDL). Digitalk says that the package's source
code is fully compatible with the company's existing Smalltalk/V
286 and Smalltalk/V Mac products.

You can use "browsers," which contain Smalltalk/V source code,
to navigate through code and explore Presentation Manager. The
package also has an incremental program development capability
and a "push-button" debugger that gives you instant feedback
each time you make a change in your source code.

Smalltalk/V PM works with OS/2 versions 1.1 and above, and comes
with both a user manual and a tutorial on object-oriented
programming.

Price: $499.95.
