Emerson Electric, known for power backup instruments for large
computers, today introduced its first products for microcomputer
power backup.

The Accupower series consists of standby lead-based batteries
that are rated at less than 4-millisecond transfer between AC and
the battery. Each of the five models is designed in accordance
with your primary power supply's wattage. Each model also
includes Emerson's AccuSaver software package that provides an
automatic shutdown and restore capability in an 8K byte assembly
language TSR program. AccuSaver saves your work at the point
where primary power was lost.

For your AT, for example, Emerson recommends the Model 10, a
90-watt unit. Model 20 is a 180-watt UPS for small business
systems. These models measure 6 by 4 by 15 inches.

Model 30 is a 300-watt UPS for business systems with fast 80286
CPUs and 80386-based systems. Model 30 measures 8 by 6 by
15 inches.

For 80286 or 80386-based systems, you might want the power of a
480-watt Model 40. And for your networked workstations where
sophisticated graphics and large memories are concerned, Emerson
recommends the Model 50, which includes an 840-watt power supply.
Both models measure 11 by 7 by 16 inches.

Price: Model 10, $199; Model 20, $348; Model 30, $498; Model 40,
$798; Model 50, $998.
