Zenith's TurbosPort 386e ("e" for enhanced) is a VGA version of
its original TurbosPort laptop. It's the industry's first
battery-powered 20-MHz 386, according to Zenith. Shipments begin
in December.
 
The 386e will weigh nearly 15 pounds, without the battery pack.
The 4-pound battery pack provides 2 to 3 hours between charges,
and it measures 13 by 15 by 5 inches.
 
Standard equipment includes 2 megabytes of RAM (expandable to
3 megabytes), a 3.5-inch 1.44-megabyte floppy-disk drive,
a 40-megabyte 25-millisecond hard-disk drive, a 2400 bit per
second Hayes modem, an 80387 coprocessor socket, a 79-key
detachable keyboard, and MS-DOS 3.3 Plus.
 
Optional equipment includes a 3-slot expansion chassis, and a
101-key keyboard with an external numeric keypad for using the
TurbosPort as a desktop PC.
