Noble Campion designed its Cameo Paint electronic painting
package to take full advantage of the capabilities of a VGA card
and color monitor. The company designed the package to run on
high-resolution and 24-bit-per-pixel systems, and then ported it
down to the VGA standard so you can upgrade the software to meet
the ever-increasing levels of performance and sophistication
offered by more hybrid graphics controllers.

The package offers over 120 graphics functions, including
anti-aliasing, frame grabbing, air brushing, flood and boundary
fills, scaling, variable-size grids, image merging, spline
curves, perspective distortion, and single-degree rotation. Cameo
Paint makes full use of the 256 onscreen colors with delicate
palette manipulation commands and variable speed and directional
color cycling. The software also includes 12 raster fonts and six
vector fonts with full control of kerning, antialiasing, and drop
shadowing.

A design-action replay facility lets you replay the creation of
designs and paintings at variable speeds for training and
presentations.

You can use the package in conjunction with a frame-grabbing
board. This facilitates full-color 8-bit image capture, and it
lets you input conventional artwork via a video camera. You can
then solarize or contrast images to produce dramatic effects and
store your images on disk or output them via a color printer or
film recorder. A built-in desktop publishing link lets you import
images into popular desktop publishing systems.

Cameo Paint runs on the IBM AT with 512K bytes of RAM, DOS 2.0,
a 20-megabyte hard disk drive, a VGA card, and a color monitor.
If you install the hardware frame grabber, the company recommends
640K bytes of RAM.
