Traveling personnel will appreciate the Vision-100 portable data
terminal from Ranger Computers. The terminal is based on the Z88
portable computer and emulates an extensive subset of commands
from the industry-standard VT-100 terminal. For example, you can
use the terminal to access your company's central computer
systems from the field and interrogate computer-based equipment,
such as traffic light controllers and telephone exchanges in the
field.

The terminal has a pixel-map feature that displays a miniature
rendition of the full 25-line page on the righthand side of the
screen. This pixel map lets you instantly see the overall screen
display and the position of the terminal's eight-line LCD window.
Special software ensures that the window always displays the part
of the screen containing the cursor, while letting you flip the
window to other areas.

For data transfer applications, the emulator lets you transmit
files prepared using the Z88's built-in word processing software.
You can also capture information on the screen for later off-line
use. The terminal supports data transfer speeds of up to 9600 bps
over the RS-232C serial interface.

Vision-100 has a full-size keyboard and operates from its own
internal batteries. It weighs only 21 pounds and is the size of
an A4 notebook. To complete the package, a battery-operated modem
and a range of connecting cables are also available.

Price: L375 for the terminal and the software; L175 for the
software alone.
