The company who invented them says they'll license the
Micrografx Intelligent Font Drivers (IFD) to software developers
and in-house corporate developers. IFD lets you mix fonts from
multiple developers into a single document. It also scales fonts
"on the fly" so that you can use any point size or draw fonts
at an angle.

IFD, according to Micrografx, is similar to Microsoft's
Intelligent Font Interface for OS/2 PM. A device driver
incorporates the font rendering engine used to create and scale
fonts. The driver is a set of DLLs (Dynamic Link Libraries) that
you can incorporate into your own programs.

Initially, IFD supports Speedo and Fontware fonts from Bitstream
and Nimbus Q fonts from URW. Micrografx says IFD will support
other fonts, including Apple Royal and Adobe Postscript, at a
later date.

Price: Starting at $10,000 (royalty free).
