Just a few days too late for Christmas, Tandy introduced the
Tandy 1000 SL/2. It uses an 8-MHz 8086 and comes with 512K bytes
of RAM (expandable to 640K on the motherboard) and a 3.5-inch
720K-byte floppy-disk drive.

The SL/2, which is an upgrade of Tandy's original SL, also
includes MS-DOS 3.3 and DeskMate in ROM; built-in A/D and D/A
converters for sound digitization and playback; a Hercules and
CGA graphics controller; a 101-key keyboard; a 67-watt power
supply; five expansion slots; printer, serial, and joystick
ports; and a stereo headphone jack with volume control.

The expansion slots are XT-compatible, but because of the small
footprint of the machine they can hold only half-size and
10-inch-long expansion cards, not full-size cards. The SL/2 also
supports a second 3-1/2-inch floppy drive and a 20- or
40-megabyte hard-disk drive can be installed as an add-in "hard
card."

Price: $999.
